Digital minister plans to keep widest dialogue with business

ST. PETERSBURG, May 25 (PRIME) -- Russian Digital Development Minister Konstantin Noskov held the first meeting as a minister with chiefs of the country’s four major mobile operators as well as heads of Internet and IT companies and aims at the widest dialogue with business.

“This meeting (with heads of MTS, MegaFon, VimpelCom and T2 RTK Holding) was more not for consultations on the industry politics, but a first meeting. Such meetings will continue with big operators and small, regional firms. The next meeting in a wide format will be held in Moscow,” Noskov said.

“I intend to most widely communicate, meet with participants of the industry that implement digital technologies and with those who are still not very active in this field.”

The minister also said that rules of behavior in the Internet are necessary, but they should not obstruct business development, freedom of mass media or violate the rights of citizens. “Regulation, creation of rules does not mean tightening of the screws,” he said.

The virtual environment does not differ from the real one. “In such a way, control over it from the part of the government should not dramatically differ from its control in our ordinary life,” the minister said.

The ministry will amplify its role in the elaboration of regulation of the Internet, he said.
